You’re probably not analysing every possibility because you genuinely need more information.
You’re analysing because your brain believes enough thinking will eventually remove the risk of making the wrong decision.
This may look like:
• Researching long after you have enough information
• Mentally rehearsing every possible outcome
• Asking several people what they would do
• Delaying decisions until you feel completely certain
• Reconsidering decisions after you have already made them
Careful thinking is one of your strengths.
But anxiety can turn thoughtful decision-making into an endless search for guarantees.
The problem is that most meaningful decisions contain some uncertainty. No amount of research can promise that you won’t regret your choice, encounter difficulty or discover something you couldn’t have predicted.
Every time you wait for complete certainty before acting, you reinforce the belief that uncertainty is unsafe.
Am I Right?
"In all the years of reading self help books and going to therapy I’ve never seen what you said told so simply and in a way that is easy to understand . I feel free now! Free to feel all my emotions and not feel like I’m not making any progress."
"It's changing my point of view on my life on a very deep, fundamental level. I take it slowly, step by step, but I can already see that it's worth the effort."

TRY THIS NOW
Bring to mind one decision you’re currently overthinking.
Now complete these four sentences:
1. The facts I already know are…
2. The information that would genuinely help me decide is…
3. What I cannot know or guarantee in advance is…
4. Based on what matters to me, the next reasonable step is…
If important information is genuinely missing, decide exactly what you need to find out and when you will stop researching.
But if you already have enough information to make a reasonable decision, more thinking may not create clarity.
It may only delay the discomfort of choosing.
Remind yourself:
“I don’t need complete certainty to take the next reasonable step.”
Your task isn’t to prove that your decision will produce the perfect outcome.
It is to make a values-led choice using the information available, and allow uncertainty to accompany you while you act.
NOTICE WHAT JUST HAPPENED
You didn’t have to predict every possible outcome.
You separated useful information from the search for a guarantee, and identified one action you can take without waiting to feel completely certain.
This pattern may also affect how you approach opportunities, relationships, career decisions, difficult conversations and anything that carries the possibility of regret.
Recognising it is the first step. Changing how you respond when it appears takes practice.
READY TO CHANGE THE PATTERN, NOT JUST RECOGNISE IT?
